Welcome to അമ്മ ചിറക്

“Ammachirak signifies the presence of comfort, the abode of refuge, the expression of tenderness, and the shelter of protection.”

For mothers whose own wings have grown tired, this is the wing under which they may rest — and from which they may rise again.

Who We Are

A shelter of mercy for mothers with nowhere to go

Ammachirak — Mother Wings — is an elder women's care home at Elippakulam near Kattanam, begun during the Ruby Jubilee of the Adoor Diocese of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church. It exists for mothers who have been isolated from their families and from society. Here they find not charity, but what is rightfully theirs: dignity, companionship, and a home.

  • Open to every deserving woman — irrespective of caste, culture, religion or name.
  • A traditional Nalukettu home built around a sunlit central courtyard.
  • An initiative of the Adoor Diocese, dedicated to the people on 27 April 2022.

Life at Mother Wings

Everything a home should be

Shelter, meals, medicine, prayer and company — the ordinary things that together make a life dignified.

A Nalukettu courtyard home

Built to the traditional Kerala Nalukettu plan, the home is arranged around an open courtyard that fills every room with daylight and fresh air.

Comfortable dormitories & rooms

Clean, airy accommodation with accessible bathrooms, handrails and wheelchair-friendly corridors throughout the building.

Wholesome home cooking

Three nutritious meals a day, prepared fresh in our own kitchen and eaten together at a common table — as a family.

A chapel for daily prayer

Morning and evening prayers, Sunday worship and feast-day services in the home's own prayer hall — open to mothers of every faith.

Health & medical care

Routine health checks, help with medication, physiotherapy support and prompt attention from nearby hospitals when needed.

Companionship & celebration

Birthdays, Christmas carols, Onam and Vishu — the year is marked with music, visitors and celebrations that keep the home alive.

It is not provided out of generosity — this care home believes that it is their right. Let us hope that love, dignity and rights are never denied to anyone.
